Over the last year and thanks to your support, Waterberg Rhino has bought night-vision equipment, a thermal-imaging drone, bullet-proof vests and medical kits for rangers protecting rhino in the Waterberg. It is vital to keep updating the technology to ensure that rangers have the best hardware for their demanding role.
Alongside this Waterberg Rhino has also contributed to the network of ANPR cameras in the region, updating and installing 24 surveillance points. These act as an alert for potential criminal activity entering the area.
By working together, sharing information and using the best equipment available, the rangers, reserves and security organisations have a wider reach over the region. The Waterberg is an important node for both white and black rhino, representing one of the largest populations of the species on the planet. They are key to tourism, to the environment and to the community. Protection is paramount for their future.
