Join us! Get out there riding and enjoying your horse, and at the same time raise vital funds for rhino conservation and community support in the Waterberg, South Africa.
Sadly due to Covid-19, Ride for Rhinos 2021, a 300km charity ride over 7 days in the Waterberg, has been postponed until January 2022. As a result, much-needed funds are lacking with potentially devastating effects on the fate of the rhino.
The idea is simple
sign up to ride as a virtual team, to accumulate a total of 8,000 miles; the distance from
the UK to South Africa.
With the help of Equilab, the horse-riding app, you can add up your miles, set your own targets and ask for sponsorship for this amazing cause. Ride in groups, take part in fun rides or x-country to boost your mileage; the choice is yours!
YOU CAN START CLOCKING YOUR MILES FROM THE 1ST OF MAY – AND YOU CAN JOIN ANYTIME FROM THEN UNTIL 31ST AUGUST!
EVERY WEEK, WE’LL UPDATE YOU ON OUR PROGRESS – THE TOP RIDERS, MOST MILES RIDDEN AND MOST MONEY RAISED!
FOR 100, 250, 500 AND 1,000 MILES REACHED!
TAG YOUR PHOTOS WITH @RIDE.FORRHINOS AND USE THE HASHTAG #RIDEOUT4RHINOS TO SHOWCASE YOUR RIDING EFFORTS AND TO SEE HOW OTHERS ARE DOING!
EVEN THOUGH WE CAN’T ALL BE TOGETHER IN REAL LIFE, WE CAN BE TOGETHER IN SPIRIT! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND HELP SAVE THE RHINO FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS.
Rhino horn has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for over 2,000 years, touted as a cure for a number of ailments.
In the last few decades, demand has spiked within Asian markets, employing the horn for medicinal purposes or simply as a status symbol.
INCREASED DEMAND = INCREASED DEATHS.
But here’s the rub – Rhino horn is made of the same protein as our own hair and fingernails (keratin).
